Reappeared with solo performance "Fires" in 2016, at the 41st International Festival of Monodrama and Mime, Belgrade, Serbia The performance is based on the motifs of the eponymous book written by Marguerite Yourcenar (1903-1987). Five women. Five lives. Five deaths. Five confessions. Five poems about love. Five women burned in the fires of their own blood. Five profoundly intimate stories - about choices and consequences, shame and dignity, despair and suicide, revenge and remorse, crime and punishment, quest and salvation. And above all, about love and passion - uncompromising and total, crazy and fatal, reaching dizzying and dangerous heights. Five famous and influential women from the ancient past are tried afresh, before the today’s court and jury, even though previously tried and convicted, even though they condemned to death both themselves and others, especially their loved ones. They are now re-examined for the actions they committed and fight to have their voices heard again. The accused are: Mary Magdalene - accused of whoring Antigone - accused of rebellion Phaedra - accused of a crime of passion Clytemnestra - accused of cold-blooded murder Sappho - accused of bisexuality FIRES |
